Uzair Jaswal

vvvvvvvv

A few months ago, one of my friend’s in London became obsessed with this one song in particular. She would refuse to let go of her iPOD and would listen to this song on repeat for hours on end. As harmless as that may sound; it was frustrating for the rest of us who, while trying to have a conversation with her, found her oblivious to our words while humming this one particular tune to herself all the time.

Being forced to listen to it one night, we discovered that the song was called “Yaheen”. Inevitably, we began to enjoy the song and the artist’s music without knowing who the singer was and whether he was even from Pakistan or not.

Just a few days ago, while at a friend’s place, I came across the same song once again. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the singer, Uzair Jaswal (Ozzy), is not only from Pakistan but is also from my city; Islamabad.

Uzair, a talented artist with a great soul, has just completed his A-Levels and is only nineteen years of age. I lately got the opportunity to speak to him and he said – “I’ve been singing since the day I learnt to walk and just recently decided to pursue it more professionally. I’m hoping to complete my debut album by the end of the summer and then will take things from there”. With a fresh voice, great music, such creativity, and the drive to succeed, I’m sure Uzair will make his way to the top of the industry.

You can check out his song by clicking on the link below:

With everyone in Pakistan already humming his latest tunes “Yaheen” and “So Ja”, Uzair definitely has a bright future ahead of him.

Well done , buddy & Good luck!

  2. Thank you sooo much for this! What a nice refreshing voice and he’s only 19!!! Nice picture too!

  3. I just youtubed him and found a So Ja video over there. Is it the real video for the song? Or did someone dedicate it to the song? Soo nice!!

  4. The voice is still very raw but he has tremendous potential. Pakistan needs such talent and Im sure he will succeed and make us proud.

I saw him at a restaurant in Islamabad last week and noticed him as he was good lookiiiing hehe! I can’t believe he’s a singer! I love him even more now!

  6. He still has a long time ago before his voice matures completely. Catchy tunes but needs more substance. He’ll be fine as the months and years go by and he’ll make it big into the industry easily!

I just recently met Ozzy (Uzair) during my last trip to Pakistan and he is such a nice guy! I knew he was talented, but this music is simply fantastic! Insha’Allah he will do extremely well and makes us Islamabadis proud!

  9. I have to admit that I told Omar I didn’t really like the song too much when he asked me at first…however i have to admit that after listening to it for the third time I can’t stop listening to it. It’s on my ipod and I’ve been playing it on repeat all day. Can’t wait to hear the album. Good luck Uzair!

  10. Ozzy is a great friend and has a warm heart. He is very thoughtful and remains on the ground compared to other Pakistani celebrities who have forgotten where they have come from. I wish him all the luck in the world and hope and pray to god that he succeeds and may all his dreams come true! WE ARE WITH YOU OZZY!

  11. I love Yaheen!

Great song. Where can I find more songs?

  13. They’re starting Pakistani Idol on Geo TV!!! Judges are Abrar-ul-Haq, Hadiqa Kiyani, Ali Azmat, and Sajjad Ali!!

  14. Bro, that song is stuck in my head – Yaheen! Thanks for the link. Btw, I read your Blog regularly – very interesting!

  15. Awesome song! Thanks for the link Omar. I’ve forwarded it around to a bunch of my friends who love it as well!

  16. Wait, Uzair Jaswal as in the voice behind Zakham? I can’t remember the group the band he sang that with, it was mindblowing, as is his voice. I think there were two bands, one with his brother as the lead singer? Can’t remember the band names – Iztarab? No… But Zakham is like one of my fave songs of all time. 🙂
    Thanks for sharing this info.

  17. Thanks for your comments, Supe. Appreciate it. No, I think “yaheen” and “so ja” are Uzair’s first two songs and his album will be coming out in the summer. I don’t think he is behind Zakhm although I believe two of his brothers are already singers in Pakistan and one of them might be involved in that? Not 100% sure though.

  18. Wait, I’ve just recovered some of my memory, the singer of Zakham was Umair Jaswal – band’s name is Silversmoke, duh! I believe the sister (or brother? ahaha!) band is Irtaash.
Will definitely check out Uzair’s two singles. Thanks for sharing, these brothers are indeed talented and have a lot to offer Pakistan’s music industry.

  19. Zakham is by Silversmoke (Lead Vocalist: Umair Jaswal)… his elder brother Yasir Jaswal is the Lead Vocalist of Irtaash
